What communication channels do small and midsized businesses (SMBs) prefer for your loyalty program? Once they sign up, what reward frequency do they like best? To answer these questions, Bredin recently surveyed 500 U.S. SMB principals.
Roughly 80% of SMBs — regardless of company size — prefer to receive updates from a loyalty program by email. Texts are the second most popular option. For very small businesses (VSBs, with fewer than 20 employees) and midsized businesses (MBs, with 100-500 employees), mobile app notifications are third; for small businesses (SBs, with 20 to 99 employees), it’s phone calls.
The plurality of SMBs – roughly one in four – prefer to receive loyalty program benefits monthly. The second choice for SBs and MBs is quarterly; for VSBs, no particular timing preference.
